The Ticket Stub: A Vehicle to Gamedays Past

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when some says “Arts & Crafts”? We’re guessing that the immediate image consists of lace, glitter and anything else that might be included on a home decorating show.

But, what if we told you that we had a Arts & Crafts project specifically tied to college football? Would that get your interest? Well, AutumnSpectacle.com aims to please.

We’ve all been to games that we loved being a part of. Other than the occasional photograph or the next day’s newspaper, there’s not much you can do to commemorate your attendance. If you’re like us, you’ve tried to hang on to an item that is universal to every sporting event: the ticket stub.

As Trip Captain has said numerous times, there’s nothing more satisfying as a college football fan than to have “ticket in hand!” Today, we’re passing on an idea of how you can take that “ticket in hand” and display it in a creative and practical way.

Instead of leaving those old ticket stubs stashed away in your sock drawer, why not put them out for all your buddies to see? The offseason is a perfect time to do this project. You have time on your hands and it gives you an opportunity to reminisce about those autumn Saturdays that make the rest of the year bearable.

Materials:

* Game ticket

* Ready-made cork coaster squares or round (found at local craft store)

* Self-Adhesive laminate (found at local craft store)

Directions:

1. Position ticket on the cork square and trim any excess ticket, as necessary.

2. Adhere ticket with glue. (No hot glue! Hot glue will burn your ticket and make it unusable. Trust us on this one.)

3. Wipe any excess glue from around the edges of the ticket, as necessary.

4. Place heavy weight (a large book will do) and allow to dry for at least 30 minutes.

5. While the coaster is drying, trim the self-adhesive laminate ¼-inch larger that the cork coaster.

6. Apply self-adhesive laminate.

7. Trim excess laminate from around the cork coaster.

8. Proudly display your college football spirit!

One of the things you'll discover is that each time you put a beverage on one of your coasters, your mind will transport you back to that one particular gameday. Whether you were in the deep South enjoying an SEC thriller or in the Rockies watching a Mountain West rivalry, your new coasters will allow you to relive past gamedays, which will help you cherish the Autumn Spectacle all year round.
